Honda Accord Hybrid set to beat Toyota Camry with astounding fuel economy

Honda Motor is all set to launch a new hybrid version of the Accord in the domestic car market of Japan that will also boast of the highest fuel economy rate amongst the mid-sized sedan. This Accord Hybrid variant is going to be launched by Honda to bridge the gap with the popular Toyota Camry. The new Accord Hybrid model will be hitting the Japanese car market on 21st June 2013. The Tokyo based Honda revealed in a statement on 31st May that the new Accord Hybrid will have a fuel efficiency of 30 kilometers per liter under Japan’s JC08 testing standards. The new car’s primary rival, Toyota Camry hybrid provides a fuel economy of 23.4 kilometers a liter, while according to Nissan Motor Co. its gasoline run Teana can run up to 11.4 kilometers per liter.

Following the launch in the auto market of Japan, Honda also contemplates to introduce the new Accord Hybrid model in the U.S. during the winter season of this year, as the Japanese auto maker aims to achieve record sales in the company’s biggest market this year. This hybrid version will be the Accord’s newest and the ninth model since its introduction back in the year 1976. It is a part of Honda’s plans to increase the global sales of hybrids as the consumers show increasing interest in obtaining more energy-efficient vehicles.

According to the auto industry experts, the Honda Accord’s newest variant provides astounding fuel efficiency and thus will definitely draw a lot of consumer attention towards it. The experts also hold the view that this new hybrid technology will certainly be a huge strength for the Japanese car maker.

As the Japanese fuel economy standards are hugely different from that of the U.S. standards, the Honda accord Hybrid’s fuel ratings are calculated from the various tests performed under the different driving conditions according to the two different car markets.
The Japanese automaker which is led by the President Takanobu Ito will also have hybrid systems ranging from one to three motors according to the various power requirements of the models from compact ones to the NSX supercar. Honda Motor is also targeting annual global sales to climb up to 6 million units by the fiscal ending on March 2017, according to Ito.

The Honda Accord is a much acclaimed car also won the crown of the best-selling car in the month April in the U.S car market. Honda sold 33,538 Accords in April overtaking the sale of 31,710 units of Toyota Camry. In April, the Accord sales also surged up by 26 percent in the U.S market as against the 6.8 percent drop of the Toyota Camry, which was the top selling car in the U.S. for more than a decade till 2012.

According to the consumer review, Accord’s 2013 variant is the best choice among the mid-size sedans, followed by Hyundai Sonata GLS and Toyota Camry. According to this review the Toyota Camry XLE V6 is the best family car among the models with a larger motor.
