In the epic rivalry of the hybrid cars, the fuel efficiency is obviously the most crucial aspect. As the hybrids get more that more popular in the international car markets, the car makers are trying harder to make their models more efficient in order to beat the competition. For the time being, it seems that the battle is more than half won for Honda, as its all new 2014 Accord Hybrid manages to achieve an astounding 49 mpg in the city roads and 45 mpg in the highway breaking the hybrid fuel efficiency records.

With the city road return of 49 mpg, the 2014 Honda Accord has beaten all the other hybrid cars available in the market, the car also return a very impressive 47 mpg on a combined driving.

However, this is not the rating of 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid Plug-In that can be plugged in to recharge and has been reportedly recorded to return 115 mpg running on the electric mode.

The Honda Accord Hybrid is fitted with a potent 124 kW electric propulsion system and the new 2.0 liter DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder motor. Although this conventional hybrid car does not come with a plug-in ability, its new two-engine hybrid powertrain allows the car to run in electric-only mode as well.

According to the Japanese car major, its Accord Hybrid can be driven in three different driving modes, namely the Hybrid Drive, EV Drive and Engine Drive. These three driving modes can be combined in order to achieve the optimal fuel efficiency. This can also mean that the Honda Accord Hybrid has the potential to achieve even better fuel efficiency than that which has been stated because of its electric only mode.

The Japanese car major has also made the pictures of the all-new 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid official, which are available on Honda’s official website. The all new 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid is going to hit the U.S. car market in this year’s October across all the Honda dealerships in the country.

As far as design and visual appeal is concerned, the new Accord Hybrid flaunts the similar classy styling that is showcased by its Sedan counterpart. Moreover, the car flaunts an exclusive hybrid logo and blue accentuated front grille and headlight lenses. It also enjoys unique LED daytime running lights, an exclusive wheel design and a rear spoiler.

While running in the EV drive mode, the new Accord Hybrid draws power from its lithium-ion battery to utilize the electric-only mode at low speeds, while when the car runs on medium to high speeds, the Engine drive mode is turned on which sends the motor’s power to the front wheels of the car. On the other hand, the Hybrid Drive option uses the powerful electric motor as well as the new 2.0-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine in a combined way to drive in an efficient fuel conserving way. The all new Honda Accord Hybrid is thus set to take on the market with class leading fuel efficiency.
