Japanese carmaker which launched its compact sedan Amaze last year in India is very pleased with the tremendous response from general public about features and performance of the car. The success of this model helped the car maker reverse a  large part of its losses suffered during early part of 2013 due to lack of demand for its sedan and hatchback models. With competition heating up in mass market  category Honda has to constantly review its existing portfolio and exchange profitable models and replace them with new generation cars which will appeal to young and old alike. The new Honda Amaze is being sold within India at INR 6.22 lakhs to bring it within reach of larger number of buyers.

The latest Honda Amaze variant is called SX and is slotted between its base S variant and top quality VX variant. Since the original model has sold nearly 60,000 units since launch in 2013 Honda is attempting to continue this model with improved variants over a period of time to meet changing demands of people and is making additions and changes based on consumer feedback. The new SX variant will be presented with both diesel and petrol fuel options priced at INR 7.12 lakhs and 6.22 lakhs accordingly with manual transmission.  To make it safer front passengers Honda has fitted dual airbags in front along with features from S variant.

By introduction of this model Honda has expanded its existing range of Honda Amaze models to 12 variants as E, EX, S, SX (available in petrol and diesel), S AT, VX AT with both automatic transmission models in petrol fuel options. All these models are available with latest safety features like ABS, EBD and brake assist system since they are sold within Asia and Japan. The model helped Honda find a footing in Indian markets and help regain public confidence for this brand which was seeking a comfortable position among mass market cars manufacturers. Its exterior design is enhanced by wedges and groves on the sides and sharp profile of wheel arches.

Honda Amaze’s diesel range is powered 1.5 liter i-DTEC engine which is able to provide amazing mileage of 25 kmpl and now ranks among most fuel efficient cars in India. The petrol engine of this model is equally fuel efficient with 1.2 liter i-VTEC engine which produces 84 bhp of power.  The front façade is attractive with bold Honda logo on radiator grille with wrap around chrome bar across it.  Broad body colored bumper covers lower section which has a wide air dam on bottom section and is flanked by chrome encased fog lamps to provide better illumination. Rear section is classy with large stop lights and chrome rim on upper section of boot.

People looking at the Amaze would not consider it very different from existing range of compact cars available in Indian market and would be surprised with the euphoria around this model. However this car has managed to surpass market expectations and critics to emerge as a winner due to design and comfort features which when combined with reasonable price is able to compete with best available models in the market. This model has managed to carve a niche into market previously dominated by Maruti Suzuki’s range of compact sedans.
