Honda Jazz RS to debut in India at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo

According to a latest report, Honda is gearing up to unveil a range topping variant of the new Jazz, named as the Honda Jazz RS at the upcoming 2016 Indian Auto Expo.

Honda Cars India, the fully owned subsidiary of the Japanese car major Honda Motor, launched the new generation model of the worldwide popular Honda Jazz premium hatchback in India in the month of July, 2015. The launch of the new generation Honda Jazz is the resurrection of the Jazz brand in India, as the previous generation Honda Jazz was withdrawn from the Indian market back in the year 2013. Now, with the speculated introduction of the new top of the line RS variant of premium hatchback, Honda Cars India certainly wants to grab more attention for its new Jazz. Ever since its launch in the Indian car market last year the all new Honda Jazz has been garnering good sales. The new premium car model has been also highly praised for its great styling and good features which have made the car make a good mark in the Indian premium hatchback segment.

Coming back to the Honda Jazz RS model, this new top of the line variant is expected to be a sporty looking model that could be similar to that of the Honda Mobilio RS model of the compact MPV that is already sold in the Indian car market. Both the RS variants of the respective hatchback and MPV models though different in terms of design will be similar in terms of variant positioning that is top of the range as well as features.

The Honda Jazz RS premium hatchback variant is already available for sale in the international car markets. The Honda Jazz RS that is offered in the car market of Indonesia comes with many additional external features that makes it look sportier and includes special projector headlights, exclusive dark chrome front radiator grille with “RS” logo, round fog lights with LED Daytime Running Lights, electrically foldable Outside Rear View Mirrors, rear spoiler and special stylish 16 inch alloy wheels.

On the inside as well, the Honda Jazz RS will comes endowed with many equipments such as cruise control, smart keyless entry, leather wrapped steering wheel as well as gearlever stick and pushbutton engine start. The India-spec Honda Jazz RS might also add a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system as a standard feature apart from some additional features.

The Honda Jazz RS’s engine range is expected to remain same as that of the rest of the Jazz lineup, as no under the hood changes are expected. The Jazz RS is likely to be powered by the same 1.5 liter DOHC i-DTEC diesel mill generating 100PS and 200Nm and mated to a 5 speed manual transmission, while the 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol option is not expected to make to India.

Being a sportier and feature-rich top of the range model, the Honda Jazz RS will be more expensive than the current top model, the Jazz 1.5 VX which is tagged at Rs. 8.59 lakhs.
