Honda Cars India records 26% sale decline in 2016 May

Honda Cars India recorded a 26% domestic sale decline in 2016 May with the sale of 9,954 units lower than 13,431 units sold in the corresponding period. The premium and powerful City sedan generated highest number of buyers with 3,305 units, and the nest highest seller is premium Jazz with 2,437 units. There were sufficient buyers for the classy looking and sophisticated SUV BR-V with 2,344 units. The company sold 1,409 units of Amaze compact sedan.

The vehicles that did not sell in large numbers is Brio with 228 units and Mobilio MPV with 126 units. Honda sold only 69 units of CRV and exported 651 vehicles, it has rather been a not so profitable month for Honda Cars India. Ever since the company launched the new City, it has been a best seller, and even now the car continues to sell in good numbers with 3,305 units. The Jazz too is a premium variant of the previous model, and here too the firm has acquired decent sales with 2,437 units. The vehicles that have been sold in admirable numbers is City, Jazz and BR-V.

Honda has developed high amount of success with its diesel vehicles, and its first ever diesel project in Indian market was Amaze sedan and it turned out to be an instant hit. The high fuel-efficiency and mileage value of the car is created by the revolutionary 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel engine technology. Viewing the success of Amaze, the company has incorporated the same engine into the new City. From a few years ago in 2013 since the introduction of Amaze till now it is the diesel segment that has been a strong profit generation sector.

Unfortunately, the demand for diesel vehicles has now reduced, and it has come into effect when the new diesel car regulation was formed, and as per Supreme Court guidelines diesel vehicles with engine capacity of 2,000cc or more should be banned. The rule came into effect in Delhi, and soon it will be regulated in other cities as well. Such a rule will come as a hindrance for companies to generate desired profit volumes.

Although Honda has recorded a sale decline, it is still an admirable brand to go after, the recently launched BR-V is doing well, and the demand for the car is high. The company introduced the car on the 5th of May and already 9,000 vehicles have been booked. It is a stunning compact SUV and the most loaded VX variant is loaded with features to the brim. It has trendy 16-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry with push start button, potent rear air con, premium faux-leather seats, automatic climate control, skid plates, LED light guides and projector headlights.

Customers can choose from petrol and diesel BR-V vehicles, the petrol car runs on 1.5-liter engine that yields 145Nm and 119PS and is connected to six speed manual gearbox. The diesel vehicle runs on 1.5-liter engine that generates 200Nm and 100PS coupled with six-speed manual transmission.
