Car makers in the Indian auto market are trying to woe customers with hard to resist offers. Tata Motors is leading the pack with an attractive buyback program for its Manza customers, who can sell the car back to the company after three years, at 60 per cent of the current purchase price. This Club Class Buyback Assurance program is expected to at least check the decline of the company’s sales.

On the other hand General Motors, has also made a price cut of Rs 30,000 on its hatchback Chevrolet Sail U-VA. The Sail U-VA now starts at Rs 4.19 lakh as against its earlier price of Rs 4.49 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki is offering 100 litres of free diesel with its Swift and DZire models apart from the regular cash discounts on the SX4.

While, Toyota and Honda are also giving corporate discounts, cheap insurance packages and cash discounts to attract customers, Volkswagen is handing out benefits of up to Rs 50,000 on the Polo as well as Vento.

Moreover, Hyundai and Mahindra & Mahindra, Nissan and Renault too, are making their dealers to offer discounts ranging from 5-10 percent based on the cost of the car to get new customers.

The diesel magic also might not work with the customers anymore as the price difference between this thicker fuel and petrol is increasingly thinning. This fact is again another cause of concern for the car makers, and they are trying to competitively price their diesel products.

However, all these discounts and offers are showered only on limited hatchbacks and not SUVs, as the SUV segment has overlooked the market slowdown and have increased its sales rates. The SUV segment has reported a whopping rise of 57 percent as compared to the preceding year. This is the segment that is highly in demand with all the car makers.
