The Honda Civic compact hatchback is a very competent car, which was rather criticized based on the single factor that driven by the standard 1.8 liter petrol engine, the car is not responsive enough to impress the speed lovers. To this, the Japanese luxury car maker responded by launching the diesel Civic DTi-S.

This new diesel machine is really a worthy upgrade with a pumped up torque and enhanced pickup and performance. Moreover, Honda claims a great fuel efficiency to make things even better.

As far as the interior of the Honda Civic DTi-S is concerned, apart from a few slight changes, the cabin is same as that of its petrol driven VTi-S model. The interior of the Honda Civic was always liked and there’s nothing to complain about. It gives a great, comfortable and classy appeal to everybody onboard.

The dashboard is obviously made of hard fiber, but throughout the interior of this car there is a soft and luxurious touch owing to the premium leather and fabric trimmings. The car’s driving seat is a bit high even when set at its lowest level, however that’s not a problem as there is always ample headroom. The rear Magic Seats are simply awesome that can transform this small hatch into an efficient cargo carrier.

Driving the Honda Civic DTi-S is a real pleasure, given how smooth and quiet the car is. The grumble and clattering sound that is usually associated with diesel cars are totally missing in the Civic DTi-S.

Though the Civic DTi-S is little louder than any quality petrol car, it can be safely said that it is almost as quiet as a petrol model owing to its very appreciable diesel engine that is primarily vibration free and incredibly refined.

Under the hood, this diesel oil burner’s efficient 1.6 liter Earth Dreams turbo 4 cylinder diesel motor delivers a modest 96KW, but it really takes things far with an immense peak torque of 320Nm at 2000rpm. This in turn results in a great performance.

The only drawback of the Honda Civic DTi-S is that it is offered with only 6 speed manual gearbox in a time where automatic transmissions primarily rule the international markets. However, the manual transmission is also very smooth and consumer-friendly.
The car is extremely smooth and easy to maneuver, again that is much comparable to a petrol only car. It is sure to please you while driving it, be it on the hectic urban roads or the long stretches of highways. The pleasure of owning this car is heightened by its superior mileage. The Honda Civic DTi-S can give a return of 4.0 l/100km, depending on the driving conditions.

The Honda Civic DTi-S offers such great fuel efficiency partly due to its great engine start-stop system, which deadens the engine when the car is idle and comes back to life with the press of the accelerator. The car also offers a light and accurate steering while for a happy driving experience. The Civic DTi-S has a starting price of $26,990.
