Honda Vision XS-1 crossover study concept to have world premiere at the Indian Auto Expo

It is already known that Honda Cars India has announced its display lineup for the upcoming 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The 12^th edition of Auto Expo is going to be gala affair for the auto majors in India, all of whom want to take the opportunity to showcase their best upcoming offering at the event making the most of it. Honda Cars India, which is enjoying great success at the moment is planning for more Indian launches and will be showcasing the same.

Apart from the near future launches in India which come in the form of the Honda Mobilio MPV and the all new Jazz hatch, the Japanese car major will also display a new study model of an upcoming crossover at the Auto Expo.

Honda Cars India has announced in a statement that the company will be unveiling a new creative model named as the Vision XS-1 at the upcoming Auto Expo, which will be the concept model’s world premiere.

The company statement further revealed that the Vision XS-1 is a still study model of a new Sports Utility Vehicle model that flaunts sporty design language and excellent utility space based on the company’s unique technologies.

This new crossover concept model from the house of Honda will attract special attention, as it represents the company’s interest of launching a sub-4 meter compact SUV model in India to get a share of this highly popular segment.

Earlier it was speculated that Honda is contemplating to bring in the Vezel compact SUV, which is not a sub-4 meter car, in India. However, later it was known that the Vezel is meant only for the developed car markets and the chances of its Indian arrival are thin. However, Honda has not revealed any details about this and said that it is still studying the feasibility of launching the Vezel in India.

However, the decision of the company of not keeping the Vezel in the exhibit list for the Auto Expo further shows its dim chances of arriving in India. On the other hand, there are high speculations that instead of the Vezel SUV, Honda is contemplating on launching a Brio based compact SUV in India, which will be more appropriate for the market.

There are also speculations that the very Honda Vision XS-1 study concept model is that Brio based compact SUV that will eventually see the daylight in India.

Honda will be showcasing a range of cars at the Auto Expo that also includes the discontinued CR-V, and the Accord Hybrid that the company also intends to introduce in India in the future. Apart from these, the newly launched all new City, the incredibly popular Amaze compact sedan and the Brio hatchback will also be exhibited.

The 12^th Edition Indian Auto Expo is scheduled to be held from 7^th of February at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, while 5^th and 6^th February are kept to be the press days for the major auto event.
