This has reassured the various lamenting car makers of India that good market conditions have arrived. As per the data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the total domestic car sales in Indian in the month of August 2014 stood at 1,53,758 vehicles as against the sale of 1,33,513 units during the same month last year.

SIAM Director General Vishnu Mathur told the media that the Indian auto industry is witnessing a gradual growth, and a slow but steady turnaround is taking place. However, Mathur also said that the turnaround in the customer sentiments could have further enhanced, if the interest rates were not still high. In order to ensure adequate sales thus, the car manufacturers are still offering hefty discounts on their products.

In this change of market condition, the new car launches have really played a huge role. This year saw the launch of many new cars which lured in customers to buy new cars. Japanese car maker, Honda is perhaps the only car maker which sailed through the worst patch of the Indian car market slow down with steady high sales growth, thanks to its new car launches. Honda Cars India continues to grow with flying numbers. This year the car maker launched two new cars models, the all new City in January and the Mobilio MPV in July, both of which are runaway successes.

In fact, the Honda Mobilio MPV which launched on 23rd of July 2014 in India has actually contributed a great deal in the overall sales growth of the domestic auto industry in the month of August.

The new Honda Mobilio, which is the Japanese car maker’s first MPV venture in India continues to get huge demands and received over 20,000 bookings in just two months of its Indian launch. The Mobilio MPV is competing with some of the bestseller MPVs in India and has already outshone the popular Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV.

Apart from the Honda Mobilio, another car that has greatly contributed in the increased domestic car sales in India in August is the all new Hyundai Elite i20 which is also a big success right after its official market launch.

In the month of August 2014, all the top 3 car makers of India got good sales growth.
