Honda is conducting a higher degree of Takata airbag recall investigation to five million cars

Honda is an esteemed global luxury brand, and is recognized for its high-end safety technology, visible on the five star security rating conferred on Accord. It is a proven fact that Honda cars are incredibly safe, the trend has however been different lately; the company has been on a recall spree citing defective software technology and airbags on its Accura and Fit cars.

The matter has reached Takata, an established automobile parts firm in Japan, Honda is investigating into the grave safety consequences and as a part of the investigation it is initialising replacement programs concerning the defects of driver’s side steering wheel airbags and many other issues. The company is very seriously conducting hefty investigations, because of the occurrence of extremely serious consequences that has resulted in serious injuries and even death, all caused by defective inflators.

The company has expanded the Takata recall to 5.4 million vehicles, and is being extra precautionary, since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) originally predicted five million vehicles to have defects.  The non functional airbags has resulted in five deaths and about 139 injuries. Takata has not yet disclosed an exact recall figure, since a magnitude of vehicles is involved in recalls and it could result in bankruptcy.

The American unit of Honda has given a statement regarding its National Safety Improvement Campaign with issues concerning driver’s front airbag inflator issued by Takata. In 2014 June, Honda established a regional safety improvement campaign and plans to expand its operations that will now be visible to the globe and it is now called national safety enhancement campaign and the models that will be looked into are those manufactured from 2001 to 2011 and the tested vehicle is Acura, and the issue under investigation is defective front airbag inflator fitted on driver compartment.

Honda is collaborating with Takata to investigate on defective airbags, and the testing sight is frontal airbag inflators fitted on some of the Acura variants sold in eleven territories and states of US such as Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Texas, South Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, Hawaii, Georgia, Florida, California and Alabama. The affected vehicles manufactured from 2001 to 2011 are Acura CL, Acura TL, Acura MDX, Ridgeline, Pilot, Odyssey, Element, CR0V, Civic, Accord V6 and Accord fitted with four cylinder engine.

Honda is taking full responsibility for the serious consequences, for some reason there have been defective airbags, which is rather a rare circumstance, taking into consideration, the history of exceptionally safe cars produced by the company. Ardent Honda fans can hope to regain the firms trust, and look forward to many more luxurious new models in the future.

There are some interesting new Honda cars to look forward to such as the new Jazz and Vezel. The company is a pioneer of the luxury car brand and has always produced world class engine, software and safety technology.
