The much awaited Honda Mobilio MPV is all ready to hit the Indian market next month. As part of the launch preparation, Honda Cars India has reportedly commenced the dispatch of the Mobilio initial stocks to the company’s dealership network across the country. This is also to provide training to the dealers about the new vehicle before the customers start thronging to them for bookings.

The Mobilio is Honda’s first venture in the MPV market of India. The Mobilio has been making headlines in the domestic auto market for quite some time, ever since it was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in the month of February. The new vehicle from Honda has been spied in India a number of times while testing. Recently, an auto portal has again released a new set of Mobilio pictures over the internet that was spotted by a spying snapper at a Honda service centre.

The new upcoming Honda Mobilio is expected to launch in India market the third week of July, 2014. The company has commenced the initial production of the vehicle at the company’s manufacturing facility at Greater Noida towards the beginning of last month, while as the reports the production for the entire first batch of Mobilio will commence in this month itself.

The Honda Mobilio MPV is built on the popular Brio’s platform, and will be available in both the petrol and diesel versions in the domestic market. The petrol version of the vehicle will pack in a 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol mill, which has the capability to deliver a power of 117 bhp, while the diesel version will come powered by a 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel mill that churns out with 98 bhp in the new City sedan. Both the petrol and diesel engines will be mated to a standard 5-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol engine will be mated to an optional CVT transmission gearbox as well. The diesel Mobilio is also expected to deliver the industry topping 26 km per liter if Honda does not further enhance the engine’s fuel efficiency. The petrol avatar of the Mobilio is likely to offer the mileage of 18 km per liter.

Post its market launch, the Honda Mobilio will rival the compact MPV leader Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and the Nissan Evalia in India. The Mobilio is expected to have a price range of Rs. 6 lakhs to Rs. 8.50 lakhs. Honda India is expected to commence the pre-launch bookings for the Mobilio by end of this month.

The MPV segment in India is very lucrative and Honda is confident about the success of the Mobilio MPV as the company’s recent launches such as the City and the Amaze have been tremendous hits.

The Honda Mobilio is also expected to make an impact on the sales of the much larger Toyota Innova, which is currently the leading MPV in India. The more affordable Maruti Suzuki Ertiga’s sales are also expected to dampen with the Mobilio’s arrival.
